Montucky Cold Snacks derives its name from the
term of endearment for Montana, Montucky.
Simply put, it refers to the backwoods and rural
areas of the state. Cold Snacks is a tongue and
cheek way of referring to beer; i.e. ‘Lets go crack

La Baie Sauvage, or “the wild berry,” is a Lambic aged on huckleberries. This untamed fruit is similar to blueberries and has yet to be successfully cultivated anywhere in the world! Consequently, the particular huckleberries the world-class crew at pFriem used in the brew had to literally be foraged in Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southern Washington! But first, the brewers started with a Lambic aged in oak for two years. Then they added the elusive berries, allowing them to ferment for six months. Finally, they bottle conditioned La Baie Sauvage with champagne yeast for a scintillatingly effervescent sip.

Notes of bright, luscious jam and piney juniper intertwine with tart, tangy nuances of lemon zest and pineapple. Whispers of oak carry underneath until a refreshingly crisp finish.

When the first pale ales were sailed around the cape to arrive in India in the early 18th center, outcries of “Zounds!”, “Jolly good!”, and “Huzzah!” were heard across the East Indian subcontinent. Similar exclamations are to be expected when sniffing the piney aroma and tasting the big hops, huge citrus, and candy-like malt of Pfriem’s own IPA. Drink up, guv’nor.

The first Imperial Stouts were high-alcohol concoctions brewed for Czar Peter the Great of Russia. Our own Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout absorbs the tannins of Bourbon Barrels for almost a full year, resulting in huge roasted malt, chocolate mousse, coconut and ripe cherry flavors that may leave you feeling like a bit of a monarch yourself

This IPA pours a golden straw and is topped with a thick crown of fluffy white foam. Bursting with tropical fruit aromas like guava, starfruit, pineapple and kiwi. On the palate flavors of orange zest, passion fruit, and resinous hops are uplifted by a simple but clean malt backbone. The finish is punchy, dry, and a little… Cheeky!

New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin hops have much in common with the Sauvignon Blanc grapes harvested nearby. Compare a glass of the wine to the pFriem Nelson Single Hop Pale Ale and you’ll see that both boast strong fruity flavors with aromas of passion fruit and gooseberry. You may even taste hints of berries and freshly crushed grapes in your pint. But don’t worry—you can leave your corkscrew at home.

For this beer we teamed up with the prolific Seattle-based brewery Georgetown Brewing company to create a fun project revolving around process. Together, we decided on a base recipe in which each brewery would brew based around their respective processes in raw material procurement,
brewhouse, cellaring and packaging. The idea was to showcase how the same recipe can elicit different outcomes based around different process based decisions, all leading to the same goal – a quality beer. Two breweries. Two Beers. One Philosophy. It’s the Way.

In the first of our employee collaboration beers to mark our 7th anniversary, Taproom Manager Rachael Andrus has concocted a traditional style saison using Pilsner and Vienna malt. Imperial rustic yeast gives off fruity esters with a bit of spice on the back end.

At first, Rachael forgot the recipe, but in a fit of vivid inspiration, exclaimed “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now!” Her Heart Will Go On and she’ll scream “I’m Alive” if you order up this heavenly Belgian delicacy. A Prickly Pear Berliner as beautiful as it is pink. Vibrant, refreshing and perfectly prickly, Colabadorable was designed for summer drinking. We brewed this pink drink with 25 pounds of prickly pear per barrel. Ultra bright, ultra refreshing watermelon Jolly Rancher flavors are cool and refreshing until the last sip.

Colabadorable was brewed with our friends at Falling Piano Brewery in Mexico City, Mexico for the first ever MXPDX Beer Festival in Portland. Falling Piano knows a lot about summer drinking – they have three times as much summer as we do.

Styled after the many great Doppelbocks of Germany, this dark, malty lager is fermented with a traditional bock yeast and imported MFB and Gambrinus malts to aid in obtaining some of that local authenticity.

A historic saison style beer made with calendula and homegrown yarrow flowers yielding a hugely aromatic brew that’s dry and bitter. It’s an excellent aperitif and always ready about a month and a half after the first spring yarrow flowers.

The Pacific Northwest has always been home to great beer and great beer culture, but craft beer and specialty ales are only part of the story.

There was a time when delicious, balanced, “macro-style” lager was being brewed in our backyard. That time is gone, yet’ we’re still drinking the beer that used to be made here. We want to change that.

Introducing Douglas. A classic, delicious Pacific Northwest lager brewed and bottled right here, using ingredients grown right here.

A bold yet balanced American Pale Ale with slight caramel sweetness and aggressive citrus hoppiness. This is our flagship beer.

We’ve added some zest to our traditional farmhouse Saison— Lemon zest that is. Let the large citrus, and apricot flavors of pFriem’s Lemon Zest Farmhouse Ale greet your taste buds before a finish that’s creamy, refreshing and tart.

Blend of wine barrel-aged tart farmhouse ale, matured on Oregon grown marionberries, blackberries, red raspberries and blackcap raspberries.

We use 2.7 pounds of fresh apricots per gallon of our Lambic-inspired Ale, to make pFriem Abrikoos. That may sound like a lot, but once you taste the pungent aromas of sweet dried apricots, grape, and cantaloupe and tart and tangy notes of baked lemons, pineapple nectar and canned peaches, we think you’ll agree, it’s just right.

Pours a light and vibrant shade of cherry blossom pink, under a bright white cap of foam, with champagne like effervescence. Opens with vibrant aromas of fresh wild strawberries, grapefruit, watermelon, and a hint of peach. These ripe aromas carry over to the palate and are accented by notes of fresh florals, mint, and minerality. Finishes soft and dry with tart cherry on the tongue.

Go beyond the pale, with aromas of berry and citrus, notes of mango, honeydew and a crisp, full, finish.

pFriem Frambozen is made by adding fresh raspberries to our Lambic-inspired ale, resulting in a deep fuchsia, pink foam-topped nectar, with perfumy aromas of fresh fruit, flavors of fresh jam, and a tart, prickly finish. If that sounds intriguing, just wait until you taste it!

Each batch of pFriem Pumpkin Bier is made with fresh pumpkin and real spices in addition to the standard malt and hops. Czech-Style Dark Lager is wonderfully complex, delivering notes of toffee and dates, with a kiss of roasted malts and milk chocolate. It’s brewed in the spirit of Prague’s 500-year lager tradition, inviting us all to party like it’s 1499. Pairs smartly with roasted meats, rustic veggie dishes and a bit of Euro cool.

Casual moments call for an easy drinking beer— fresh and smooth, with nuanced notes of melon and honey.

Seeking out some haze? pFriem Hazy IPA has tropical aromas of clementine, peach, strawberry, mango, and papaya, and juicy notes of grapefruit, white grape, and whipped citrus. Creamsicle meringue rests atop a mysterious body of grilled mango and haze. If you’re looking for haze, you’re in the right place.

Munich’s Oktoberfest is the largest fair in the world, but you don’t have to go all the way to Germany to celebrate. pFriem’s Oktoberfest is our easy-drinking tribute. Its notes of honey, sourdough, and white grape will have you celebrating stateside.

A golden wild ale aged in Cognac barrels. After extended aging, this was transfered into oak tank and refermented with Oregon Peaches.

Warm, smooth, sweet dried fruit and vanilla complement a commanding Brandy character. This remarkably limited version was 100% barrel-aged for 12 months in Brandy casks.

Cognac Barrel Aged Double Mash Imperial Stout pours deep, dark, and obscure. A formidable black void that no light can escape, nestled beneath a swirling milky way of foam. Gently adrift in aromas of chocolate ganache, fresh-brewed espresso, and warming brandy. A nebulous veil of malted milk, and unfathomably dark cacao coalescing in a deep gravity well of vanilla liqueur and wood spice.

Druif Rouge pours a strikingly luminous, ruby-strawberry with a lively white crown. Sophisticated aromas of watermelon, dark berries, lemon and soil precede vinous notes of juniper, plum, kiwi and warming spices. A balanced finish of juicy fruit and dry tannin invite further inquiry.

This Belgian-inspired blonde ale is deliciously complex and deceptively strong, with nuances of lemon meringue, tangerine and clove. It’s a fruit forward ale with a dry finish and a most refreshing, citrus kiss. Great with rich pastas, shellfish, hearty greens and robust dialogue.

Don’t fall asleep. Boo Berry Muffin takes over the dreamworld once a year with flavors of marshmallow cereal and blueberry in a haunting sour beer. *Contains Gelatin

NA IPA

n Belgium, Old St. Nick delivers a bundle of sticks to those who have behaved badly throughout the year. Just to be safe, we suggest foregoing cookies and leaving Santa a pFriem Belgian Christmas Ale. Brewed with coriander in a rich, Dubbel base, its toffee aromas and hints of fresh, ripe orange will leave a milk-chocolaty velvet coat on Santa’s tongue and guarantee that you won’t be getting sticks this year.

The story of pilsner starts in 19th century Bohemia when a Bavarian monk smuggled a special yeast to a brewmaster in Pilsen. The story of pFriem Pilsner starts in the Pacific Northwest where it acquires the aroma of fresh grass and flowers and a touch of honey. While there are no monks involved in this pilsner, there is still a crisp and spicy finish.

A juicy fruit forward profile is balanced by mid-palate tannin and nuanced acidity. This blend of two separate Willamette Valley vineyards brings together the warmer microclimate of the Eola-Amity Hills with the cooler areas of the Cascade Foothills; adding both bright acidity and ripe aromatics. Excellent wine for casual evenings and weekday nights.

Age is nothing but a number, except when it comes to our Saison beer, where age means more developed flavors. It’s a nod to a traditional Saison beer that would have been aged longer during the winter months. Fragrant, with tropical aromas of guava, it brings a taste of resin and kumquats. Coconut Stout imparts decadent notes of macaroons, roasted espresso and homemade brownies. It’s creamy and deep with a toasty, smooth finish that begs for one more. Like comfort food you can drink.

Pastry Stouts have a way of stretching a brewer’s imagination. Some find inspiration in favorite desserts, others in cocktails or candies. We found ours in Mexican spiced cocoa. We seasoned our creamy milk stout base with cinnamon, nutmeg, and Pasilla peppers. It’s complex and flavorful with a respectful nod towards the ancient libation chocolate ¡Salud!

A little sweet, a little fruity, and 100% refreshing. Ablis Strawberry Mojito, a  sparkling CBD drink, with no calories, no sugar, and no sodium it’s all guts and no-nonsense. Best enjoyed on the trail, at the summit, or around the campfire.

Historically, Belgian farmers brewed their strongest beers in winter, to be coveted and celebrated at Christmastime. pFriem’s Super Saison is also coveted, for its notes of pineapple, papaya, kiwi, and a flavor you’ll celebrate, regardless of the occasion.
