MODERN PILSNER

A crisp, clean, adventurous Pilsner. Noble hops, Pilsner Malt and Astoria’s naturally soft, clean, slow-sand filtered water. Our water, already flavorful and balanced straight out of the tap, recalls the quality of the water that inspired the original brewers of Pilsner, in the Czech city of Pilsen, to craft a beer that reflected the tastes and qualities of their region.

It takes a lot of spirit and imagination to make something new. And sometimes, to make something new, you have to make something old. The result? A beer so good, we named it Pilsner.

Winter is when the strongest Saisons were brewed. In fact, these super brews were so coveted that they were saved to celebrate Christmas. Of course, December need not come for you to enjoy our pFriem Super Saison. A thick, meringue-like foamy head sits atop big aromas of pineapple and papaya. The Tao of Josh and The Tao of Manny, two West Coast IPAs born from the same ingredients, same blueprint, and utterly different souls.

La Baie Sauvage, or “the wild berry,” is a Lambic aged on huckleberries. This untamed fruit is similar to blueberries and has yet to be successfully cultivated anywhere in the world! Consequently, the particular huckleberries the world-class crew at pFriem used in the brew had to literally be foraged in Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southern Washington! But first, the brewers started with a Lambic aged in oak for two years. Then they added the elusive berries, allowing them to ferment for six months. Finally, they bottle conditioned La Baie Sauvage with champagne yeast for a scintillatingly effervescent sip.

Notes of bright, luscious jam and piney juniper intertwine with tart, tangy nuances of lemon zest and pineapple. Whispers of oak carry underneath until a refreshingly crisp finish.

FRESH HOP HAZY IPA Collaboration with RUSE BREWING

The seasons are changing, daylight hours dwindle as hop farms across the land cut down their bines. The dark, low skies of the North Coast are filled with the probability of precipitation. For a third year, we’ve teamed up with Ruse Brewing to brew Sediments of Memory (from memory, of course). We crafted this brew utilizing our finest, warmest summer memories as a binding agent.

Sediments of Memory is a fruity, full, barely bitter peach-colored Hazy IPA with a slightly sweet finish. Brewed at Fort George with over 600 pounds of fresh Citra Hops from Coleman and about 20 pounds of memories.

Prepare to transcend reality with our Hazy IPA, crafted with precision and passion using hand-selected Hollingberry Citra and Mosaic hops. Immerse yourself in a kaleidoscope of tropical flavors, where waves of mango, citrus, and stone fruit dance on your palate. Traditionally brewed German-Style Doppelbock, dry hopped with Mandarina Bavaria for an American twist to add a hint of hoppiness on the finish. Made with all German ingredients.

Deep aromas of rich toasted malt and light caramel notes. Faint chocolate like aromas with a hint of tangerine and spice from the Mandarina Bavaria dry hop. Rich and Malty on the palette with low bitterness to let the malt shine. Malty sweet on the tongue but finishes clean and not cloying. The Mandarina Bavaria hops provide a slight citrusy tropical note that don’t overpower the deep malty flavors and clean lager characteristics.

BELGIAN-STYLE WITBIER

A smooth, faintly malty, medium-bodied Witbier with lemongrass and coriander.

Quick Wit has been a staff and local favorite for over a decade. For years this subtly spicy, positively citrusy Witbier was available in 16oz 4packs. While you can’t get Quick Wit off the cooler shelves aymore, it remains one of our most-requested beers.

A play on the heritage of Portland Cider, this cider was crafted to represent the owners Jeff & Lynda. Aged for over two years, this dry cider is a blend of 30+ heirloom varietal traditional cider apples from Yamhill county blended with our classic NW apple cider base. The perfect marriage of English tradition and NW apples to create a stunning masterpiece.

Classic malts and hops are the buttons that hold this red ale together. A balance between the smooth malt and subtle hop profile finishes out this amber hued brew.

Robust Porter

Rich, toasty malts and a hint of caramel sweetness form the frame for Bunkbeds, our classic American Red Ale. Mt. Hood and Perle hops lend a subtle balance of earthy spice and mild floral bitterness.

Fresh hop festbier with Tettnang Hops

Malt is Pilsner, 2-Row Pale, and some flaked corn. Blue Agave extract was added in the whirlpool. Hops are from our friends at Loza Farms Wapato Washington: Citra, Comet, and Cascade.

Pale Ale brewed with Coava Coffee’s washed Colombian Fanny Ceballos

Taking our base kettle sour beer and exploding it with an abundance of fruit, like fresh pineapple juice. We added Chinook hops and the tart acidity comes in waves from the pineapple, as well as an addition of key lime. Finally, a small amount of True Terpenes Pineapple Paradise gives it an extra punch of tropical fruit!

Pours a light and vibrant shade of cherry blossom pink, under a bright white cap of foam, with champagne like effervescence. Opens with vibrant aromas of fresh wild strawberries, grapefruit, watermelon, and a hint of peach. These ripe aromas carry over to the palate and are accented by notes of fresh florals, mint, and minerality. Finishes soft and dry with tart cherry on the tongue.

New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin hops have much in common with the Sauvignon Blanc grapes harvested nearby. Compare a glass of the wine to the pFriem Nelson Single Hop Pale Ale and you’ll see that both boast strong fruity flavors with aromas of passion fruit and gooseberry. You may even taste hints of berries and freshly crushed grapes in your pint. But don’t worry—you can leave your corkscrew at home.

Take a sniff of our raspberry Lambic-inspired ale, pFriem Frambozen, and huge perfumy aromas of fresh fruit will tease your nose. Take one sip and your taste buds will be embraced by the flavors of lavender and fresh jam before the tart, prickly finish will make you long for another.

Go beyond the pale, with aromas of berry and citrus, notes of mango, cantaloupe and a crisp, full, finish. / This bright pale ale illuminates golden with crown of white foam. Fruity aromas of melon, passion fruit, berry, and citrus. Fresh and juicy flavors of mango and cantaloupe. Finishes full, crisp, and satisfying.

Adding fresh, Hood River cherries to our barrel aged lambic ale makes us happy, but 10 months later, flavors of cherry pie and the dry, tangy finish are even more satisfying.

We combine fresh blueberries with our barrel-aged Lambic-inspired ale to make pFriem Bosbessen. Its aromas of ripe fruit, white pepper and tobacco lead to a bright, jammy flavor that finishes as tart and tangy as the berries themselves.

Belgians say, “Op uw gezondheid’” when toasting, but you don’t have to speak Flemish to appreciate the bold, complex flavors of fig dipped in dark chocolate, ripe fruit and toffee in this immense Ale. Op uw gezondheid!

This Belgian-inspired blonde ale is deliciously complex and deceptively strong, with nuances of lemon meringue, tangerine and clove. It’s a fruit forward ale with a dry finish and a most refreshing, citrus kiss. Great with rich pastas, shellfish, hearty greens and robust dialogue.

Imperial Stout was invented for Czar Peter the Great. pFriem’s Barrel Aged version soaks an entire year, for roasted malt and cherry notes to make you feel like a monarch yourself!

We use 2.7 pounds of fresh apricots per gallon of our Lambic-inspired Ale, to make pFriem Abrikoos. That may sound like a lot, but once you taste the pungent aromas of sweet dried apricots, grape, and cantaloupe and tart and tangy notes of baked lemons, pineapple nectar and canned peaches, we think you’ll agree, it’s just right.

Dolores is our beloved Pilsner beer, brewed in honor of Mat’s Abuelita. This beer has a simple malt bill of Prairie Select pilsner malt which is layered with precise amounts of Tettnang and Hallertau Mittlefruh hops that give it a bright and complex aromatic profile. Our pilsner is spicy and herbaceous with a hint of citrus underneath.

Dark Chocolate, Toasted Coconut, Hazelnut

Seeking out some haze? pFriem Hazy IPA has tropical aromas of clementine, peach, strawberry, mango, and papaya, and juicy notes of grapefruit, white grape, and whipped citrus. Creamsicle meringue rests atop a mysterious body of grilled mango and haze. If you’re looking for haze, you’re in the right place.

Experience the lucisous balance of hop character and drinkability with ample additions of sticky lupulin packed hops, full throttled hop aroma, resiounou body and succint finish of this benchmark NW IIPA.

For our first Dry Cider, we kept it simple and local. Newtons and old world cider apples from the Double Mountain Orchard were pressed and fermented on our house yeast strain. We gave it plenty of time to dry out and develop wondrous aromas of juicy pear, lychee, green fruit, and chamomile. It finishes tart, crisp, dry, and quenching. 6.7% ABV, Gluten Free

Our hefeweizen is of the classic Bavarian variety. Made with 70% wheat, lightly hopped with German Hallertauer, it’s refreshing and slightly dry with the beguiling banana and clove notes that give away the provenance of the true weizen yeast we use. This is a German-style wheat beer the way it should be–no lemon needed to make up for inadequacy.

The story of pilsner starts in 19th century Bohemia when a Bavarian monk smuggled a special yeast to a brewmaster in Pilsen. The story of pFriem Pilsner starts in the Pacific Northwest where it acquires the aroma of fresh grass and flowers and a touch of honey. While there are no monks involved in this pilsner, there is still a crisp and spicy finish.
